VIVAnews - Kekerasan terhadap Tenaga Kerja Indonesia (TKI) kembali terjadi. Sumiati binti Salan Mustapa, Tenaga Kerja Wanita (TKW) yang bekerja dengan seorang keluarga di Madinah mengalami luka bekas gunting di bagian mulutnya.
Seperti ditulis The Saudi Gazette, Senin 15 November 2010, Sumiati tiba di Arab Saudi sejak tiga bulan lalu. Kini, dia mendapat perawatan khusus di Rumah Sakit Madina setelah mengalami rangkaian kekerasan oleh majikannya.

Kekerasan yang dilakukan majikan Sumiati dinilai sangat tidak manusiawi. Pihak Konsulat Jenderal Indonesia menuntut tanggung jawab penuh dari sponsor yang memberangkatkan Sumiati.
Terungkapnya kasus ini bermula saat Sumiati yang diberi upah 800 real per bulan itu mendatangi rumah sakit di Madinah. Tetapi petugas rumah sakit di sana 'angkat tangan' karena luka yang dialami sangat berat. Sumiati memerlukan penanganan lebih intensif. Akhirnya, wanita berusia 23 tahun itu dirujuk ke Rumah Sakit Raja Fahd.
Luka Sumiati memang sangat parah. "Tubuhnya mengalami luka bakar di beberapa titik. Kedua kakinya nyaris lumpuh, kulit tubuh dan kepalanya terkelupas, jari tengah retak, alis matanya rusak. Dan yang lebih parah, bibir bagian atasnya hilang," kata Miea Mirlina, petugas rumah sakit Fahd.
Diduga, majikan wanita yang kerap melakukan kekerasan terhadap Sumiati. Dia menerima kekerasan secara berkali-kali, bahkan mengalami luka akibat setrika panas. Sumiati tidak bisa berbahasa Arab atau Inggris.
Keluarga menuntut pertanggungjawaban sponsor yang memberangkatkan Sumiati. Sementara pihak rumah sakit merekomendasikan agar Sumiati menjalani operasi plastik.
